BYC PEOPLE : Ron Campion

BYC SMOKING POLICY

In common with the general move towards restrictions on smoking in public establishments, it is helpful to present the current situation in the club premises. This could of course be revised in line with latest legislation or recommendations:

Smoking is not permitted in the restaurant, nor in the bar where dining tables are laid out (normally the area between the fireplace and the main panoramic windows). We have also improved the ventillation/extraction in the bar area for the comfort and health of customers and staff.

Brixham born & bred, Ron has been a member of BYC since the mid-70’s, often serving on club committees over the years. He retires soon from Rear Commodore House, but as a master chef, Dusty Springfield impersonator, expert wine and whisky taster, water skier, powerboater and successful racing yachtsman, he’s unlikely to be idle in retirement. He also describes his main spare time activity as running his own furniture and carpet business!

A big thank you, Ron, for all you’ve done as Rear Commodore.

NEW BREWERY DEAL

After some years with Beer Seller, the club has recently negotiated a better deal with Carlsberg Brewery.

Very soon we will have a new range of beers, a new selection of wines and a revamp of many facilities behind the bar.

Carlsberg will also be providing sponsorship of some sailing and social events, details to be announced soon.

Text Box: HARBOUR REDEVELOPMENT - LATEST NEWS
At an informal meeting on Monday 7th March between Torbay Borough Council and BYC flag officers, preliminary discussions took place on the implications for BYC, both on and off the water, of a proposed outline plan for the new fish market.
It is clear that the club is in a strong position to influence the development, to minimise the impact on our facilities and to explore benefits which may accrue to the club as a result of any changes. Discussions are on-going and your negotiating team wish to emphasise that no final decisions will be made without the full involvement of the membership.
