IMPORTANT - Re-Opening of Club on the 22nd July
Published 10:17 on 20 Jul 2021
Dear Members,
As you will all be aware, we have been obliged to close the bar and restaurant, due to staff being obliged to self isolate, and will be closed on Monday 19th, which was ironically once known as "Freedom Day". It has been great to see lots of on-the-water activity, with racing and training, and would have been even better with a bit of wind.
We are re-opening on Thursday 22nd July, and in order to give as much protection as possible to Members and staff, we will be maintaining the same rules as before regarding the use of masks, social distancing, table service, and sanitising. We will also be tightening up on recording attendance in the Club, so please be ready to scan yourselves in, which will be a condition of service. Our outside areas will all be available for use, for any Members who prefer to be outside. We will of course continually review and keep you updated.
I am aware that there is a very considerable increase in Covid cases, both nationally and in Torbay, but also that the current "app" is over-sensitive in the current situation, where there is a strong likelihood that Members are double vaccinated, and therefore largely protected from the most serious effects of the virus. It seems that the trials of mass participation events, such as the Euros, Wimbledon, and this weekend's British Grand Prix, will clearly demonstrate that now is not the time to try to revert to pre-Covid behaviour patterns.
We will continue to do our utmost to provide a safe environment, which will be both beneficial to Members, and the Club as a commercial enterprise, and hopefully we can avoid the need to close again, by continuing to provide a safe environment for staff, who I know are looking forward to getting back to serving us all from this coming Thursday.
